Faith- A belief in something not based on proof

By definition alone this may be a difficult principle to accept and maybe an even more difficult concept to apply. It’s much easier to believe in something that I can see, hear, feel, touch, and prove! But sometimes the most rewarding things in life must come without proof. Many times we will need to “take a leap of faith.”, which can be a challenging proposition for many of us.

So our faith can grow by taking a calculated “leap” and then examining and identifying the results. Did things work out by the faith-based action that I took? Might have things worked out better than I would have imagined? Did I discover that many of my fears and doubts were unfounded once I got into action? Were my stress levels down knowing that I wasn’t ultimately in charge?

The application of Faith is even more impactful when facing a situation that I have never experienced before, like what we are facing right now with this COVID-19 pandemic. Similar to our recovery, the actions and behaviors we apply during these unprecedented times can mean the difference between life and death. But we are going to need to have Faith.

My Faith will be increased through my experiences and will increase exponentially when I walk through a situation that is frightening or challenging. When I get through a tough situation by applying Faith, then my faith will grow. The more I experience it the greater it becomes and the more likely I’ll be able to apply it the next time it’s needed. So Faith is Experiential but I must be willing to TAKE ACTION and then TRUST THE PROCESS!

So let’s get into ACTION and practice applying Faith! Physical activity can reduce stress; increase mood, energy levels, better sleep, self-esteem, and immune response. But do I believe this will work for me? Do I have proof? Well I don’t actually need proof …I just need to have faith, get into action, and then let the results come!

Faith Workout-COVID-19 edition

Assign one of the following numbers to each of the 5 exercises listed below & then perform that number of repetitions. You may only assign a number once and each number must be assigned to an exercise.  Set a time cap of 5 minutes per exercise and work your way through these exercises “with faith” taking the next indicated action. Rest when needed and break up the repetitions however you would like to best get through this. If you complete the repetitions before the time cap then you can rest until the 5 minutes has expired or carry on.

These high repetitions may seem like a daunting task but have faith, get into action, and you will get through them. This physical experience will increase your self-esteem, confidence, & faith!

Each video demonstrates beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of the same exercise so choose what works for you and your clients

When you have finished, acknowledge that the pre-conceived notion that you might never get through this was FALSE and let your Faith grow as the result of your actions. The next time you are facing a challenge, ask your self “What would Faith look like in this circumstance?” and then take action!
